PETE ROCK & CL SMOOTH — SOULED OUT: Without a doubt Pete Rock and CL Smooth are one of the great HipHop duos. But with Pete Rock easily being one of HipHop’s greatest producers, CL’s microphone controlling tends to get overlooked in discussion. But once the needle drops and any of their classic joints come booming through the speakers, with the Chocolate Boy Wonder’s horns and drums and the Mecca Don’s mellow flow and aggressive delivery, correctly attuned HipHop ears know they are hearing something special.

With this piece, the colors were particularly important. I wanted to create a color scheme that gave a sense of a warm glow that represented the visual image Pete Rock and CL Smooth tracks tend to evoke for me.
